“Adorably Mad” Japan charms the motoring press

Visitors to the Tokyo Motor Show have been shown many marvellous machines, designed to carry us into the future.

There’s even a car which steps in to calm things down if families start to argue when they are sat inside it!

Many articles highlight the weirdness and eccentricity of the concept cars on show. Does this reinforce the stereotype that the Japanese are “adorably mad”?
